Drink responsibly

Drinking is always fun: it helps you have fun, bond with your peers, and sometimes at the end of a long work week it’s really necessary! The golden rule for all good things, however, is moderation.

Read below if you want to know how to achieve this balance when it comes to drinking, and drinking responsibly!

Eat when you drink

It is always recommended to eat at least an hour before and while you are drinking. This is because if you have eaten well before drinking, alcohol is absorbed slowly; conversely, if you drink alcohol on an empty stomach the alcohol will quickly pass from the stomach to the small intestine, where most of it is absorbed into the bloodstream, so even with a small amount of alcohol you could get drunk.

Have a purpose

Drinking is always fun, but it’s always good to have a purpose and have a conversation with yourself to clarify your intentions before drinking. Are you drinking to relax? Is it a casual brunch with your friends? Do you regularly drink alone? Be honest with yourself. Your life and health are important, and your purpose should align so that you can feel confident and stay healthy at the same time.

Stick to one type of alcohol

It’s best to stick to one type of alcohol if you want to consume less alcohol and keep track of your drinks, whether you choose beer, vodka, or liqueur. If you mix several types of drinks, it may be difficult to keep track of how much alcohol you’ve consumed. Not to mention the fact that if you change drinks, the alcohol content of each will consequently vary, and you could end up consuming more than expected. What drink do we recommend if you want to stick to just one alcoholic drink? Casanova Prosecco, of course!

Keep track of the number of drinks

Before going out for an occasion, decide with yourself what type of drink you will have and how many drinks, depending on your goals and capabilities. Once you set an upper limit on whatever drink you decide to consume, you will have a goal in mind that you need to stick to. Another thing that might help is to consider the calories each drink might have, especially if you care about fitness and health. Choosing to buy your own drinks could also stop you from drinking too much. Another reason could be that, if you arrived at the meeting place by car, you will also know that for your safety, the safety of others and for legal reasons, in most countries you cannot drink more than one glass of wine.

Drinking Socially

For us, drinking responsibly goes hand in hand with having fun and having a good time. And is there a better way to spend quality time with friends and family than by drinking?! After all, sharing is caring! When you are in social situations it will be easier to follow your own drinking rhythm, because you may be too busy laughing, talking, dancing, or posing for photos! You can also ask one of your peers to be your accountability partner, meaning you can ask them to make sure you stick to X number of drinks and don’t go over that limit.

Stay hydrated

One of the side effects of alcohol is that it causes dehydration, which is the loss of essential salts and water from the body, along with a loss of key electrolytes. Hydration is always important, as the human body needs plenty of water to stay healthy, but due to the above reasons, it is even more important when drinking. We therefore recommend alternating between an alcoholic drink and a glass of water: not only will this restore salt and electrolyte levels, but it will also help your body eliminate toxins and prevent a hangover.
